Families for Kids

Who we are!
Families for Kids is a network of current and former members of foster and adoptive families. Our goal is to help find and support other families who may be interested in helping abused and neglected children.

Are you interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent in Washington? We can help.
We provide free information on what it is like to be a foster and/or adoptive parent and offer support through the decision making and licensing process.

Are you currently a foster or adoptive family in Washington State? We can help.
Families for Kids provides support to families through our network of regional teams. Our primary strategy is to link foster parents together through family hubs, family mentorship, new family buddies and support groups.

Are you currently a Kinship Caregiver in Washington State?  We can help.
We provide free information to connect you with community resources and services, even if children are not wards of the state. We also offer support to families through our network of regional teams.

For information on becoming a foster or adoptive parent, call 1-888-KIDS-414 to connect with a local recruiter or visit us on the web at www.familiesforkids.org

How You Can Help Families for Kids make an impact in your community:

Working with the belief that the people make things happen, we focus on education, community outreach and awareness and advocacy to help children, strengthen families and put an end to the cycle that victimizes children and shatter families.

Corporate and individual citizenship enriches a company’s involvement with children and families and the social issues they deal with because corporations and individuals make things happen.

As an organization and as individuals, we are proud to be the difference for children. Families for Kids collaborates with corporations, small businesses, and individuals who have an established commitment to make a difference in the lives of children.

Here are just a few of the ways you can help Families for Kids (FFK) in the recruitment and support of the foster and/or adopt families of children in out-of-home care and the children themselves. Families for Kids is a program of Lutheran Community Services Northwest and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. A tax receipt will be made available.

BECOME A COMMUNITY PARTNER
If you, your company, business or organization is interested in supporting Families for Kids through a statewide or local partnership, below are just a few examples of how our organization can help add value to your brand-building efforts:

  • Co-Branding Opportunities
  • Community Event Marketing
  • Special Events
  • Retail Extensions
  • Employee/Client Giving Programs

Families for Kids will work with your company to help make a positive and socially responsible contribution to children and families and strengthen relations with your customer and employees.

SPONSOR A HUB, MENTOR, BUDDY, OR SUPPORT GROUP
Sponsor a group of families in your area that are caring for children in out-of-home care. These different support systems meet at least monthly and provide required trainings, socialization, respite coordination, and support for families. To help with possible space rental, speaker fees, training materials, etc., it is estimated that $100 per month is needed on an average. Please sponsor one of these systems (for description of each unit see Foster Parent Support Section on our home page). Please donate $1200 or pledge $100 per month for 12 months by mailing check, money order, or credit card information to: Families for Kids, 115 NE 100th Street, Suite 200
Seattle, WA 98125-8099 – or call 888.794.1794 for assistance. Pleases include your name, address, phone number, and email. In addition, type of credit card if applicable, number, and expiration date, as well as your signature. Please be sure to include a notation of “to sponsor a H/M/B/SG” on your donation.

ASSIST WITH UPGRADING TECHNOLOGY
Our coordinators present trainings and educational exhibits throughout the State to raise awareness of the plight of the children and recruit, support, and train the families that will and are caring for them. Many of these presentations require laptops and LCD projectors. It is a goal to see that each coordinator has both a laptop and projector in order to be able to present these PowerPoints and lectures on demand, eliminating the worry of trying to locate and/or borrow equipment. Each piece of technology runs around $800. Please send check, money order, or credit card information to Families for Kids, 115 NE 100th Street, Suite 200 Seattle, WA 98125-8099 – or call 888.794.1794 for assistance Pleases include your name, address, phone number, and email. In addition, type of credit card if applicable, number, and expiration date, as well as your signature. Please be sure to include a notation “for purchase of presentation technology” on your donation.

SHOP AT ALBERTSONS
All you have to do is shop at Albertsons. Click here http://www.albertsons.com/cp/ to link the FFK partnership number with your Preferred Customer card. Each time you shop at Albertsons and use your card Albertsons will make a donation to FFK to help abused and neglected children. The FFK Partnership number is 4 90001 28128 5

SUPPORT FFK IN GENERAL
Any involvement level that you would like to donate would be greatly appreciated and can be done as a yearly item you budget in, or in a pledge form, with payments coming monthly or quarterly, or as a one time donation to help with any of the above or the Families for Kids program in general. As you know there are many little costs to create and print brochures, send out information, pay the phone bills on our information line, etc. that all add up and any size donation will be of use to help benefit the Families for Kids program and ultimately the abused and neglected children in Washington. We thank you for your willingness to help. Please send check, money order, or credit card information to Families for Kids, 115 NE 100th Street, Suite 200 Seattle, WA 98125-8099 – or call 888.794.1794 for assistance.
